How to apply SBI FASTag and Recharge online: Here's everything you need to know

To avoid the hassle of long queues in toll gate and to have a centralised toll collection facility, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made FASTag mandatory for all vehicles across the country.

SBI FASTag is a device that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) software to allow toll payments directly from the prepaid account or related savings account. It is a 10x 5 cm, in the shape of a rectangle, multi-layered tag, made of good quality paper, containing chip and antenna within its layers.

SBI FASTag is pasted on the windscreen of the vehicle, and through the Radio frequency identification method, the information is read at the toll plaza from the tag. It encourages cashless payments at toll plazas. SBI FASTag can be conveniently recharged online through credit card, debit card, net banking,UPI, and IMPS.

What is SBI FASTag?

The SBI FASTag is an electronic device that uses Radio-Frequency ID (RFID) technology to process cashless toll payments from the FASTag prepaid account.

The tag is affixed on the top middle of your car’s windshield and it contains a chip and an antenna inside. Through the RFID technology, the tag lets scanners at the toll plazas to read your FASTag account and debit the toll fee accordingly.

How to apply for SBI FASTag Online

Customers can visit the official SBI website for FASTag at https://FASTag.onlinesbi.com/SbiFASTag for all details pertaining to the purchase and use of SBI FASTags.

For verification purposes, they must submit complete KYC documents, copy of vehicle RC along with other documents for verification. SBI FASTag is available in two categories:

  • Limited KYC holder’s account: RC copy of the vehicle, ID, and address proof (list attached). Photo of the customer.
  • Full KYC Holders account: RC Copy of the vehicle, ID and address proof (list attached), Photo of the Customer.

Required Documents to Apply SBI FASTag

  • Duly filled SBI FASTag application form
  • Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle
  • Address Proof: Voter ID, Passport, Ration Card, Utility Bills, Driving License, Letter of Introduction or Confirmation from Post Office.
  • ID Proof: PAN Card, Passport of same address, Voter's ID Card of same address, Aadhaar card, Ration card, Last 3 month’s utility bill, Shop License, Letter of Introduction by Local Self Government Official.
  • Recent passport-size photograph of the vehicle owner.

How to Recharge SBI FASTag Online

To recharge your SBI FASTag prepaid account, just follow the below steps:—

  1. At Frist, Visit the official SBI FASTag website.
  2. Log in with your username and password to access your account.
  3. On the new page, select the ‘Tag Recharge’ option at the top of the page.
  4. On the redirected page, enter the amount for recharge and click on ‘Pay Now’ button.
  5. Choose the payment method and a pop-up window will appear with the breakup of the charges, click on ‘Pay Now’ after checking all the details.
  6. Once the recharge is completed, an SMS notification will be sent to your registered mobile number with the details of the recharge.
