India Government bans 59 Chinese android apps including WeChat, Helo, Tiktok and UC Browser
The Indian government has blocked 59 China android apps from play store including high-tech forums such as TikTok , Helo and WeChat, to address the threat of such requests to the "sovereignty and security" of the country, a statement released by the media yesterday morning. ShareAIT, a UC browser and the app store Clubfactory are among the other popular apps that were blocked amid tensions between India and China following a border dispute over the past two weeks. The government said the requests were made on activities that were "prejudiced against India's sovereignty and integrity, protecting India, government security and public order." This restriction is incorporated under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for the Prevention of Access to Information by Public) Regulations 2009.
